Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern Timeless Twist Headband

Create this cozy crochet ear warmer with a timeless twist design. Free beginner-friendly pattern for a stylish, ribbed headband.

Equipment

  • 1 Size I Crochet Hook 5.5 mm
  • 1 Tapestry Needle
  • 1 Scissors:
  • 1 Tape Measure

Materials

  • 147 yards Lion Brand Yarns Landscapes #4 medium weight yarn. For all sizes you will need 147 yards or less. 1 skein of yarn. Colors Shown: Cabana and Mountain Range

Instructions

  • Start by making a slip knot and adding the loop on the hook. Work enough chains to make your desired length.

  • Row 1
  • In the 2nd chain from the hook work a SC in the back bump and in each CH ST back bump across. Turn
  • Row 2
  • CH 1 (Doesn’t count as a ST). Work a Single Crochet Back Loop Crochet (SC BLO) in the first ST and in each ST across. Turn
  • Row 3 and Beyond
  • Repeat row 2.
  • When you’re done, leave a long tail. About 15-20 inches. You will be using this to sew the ends together.

Suggested starting chains

Here are some suggested starting chains for using a #4 medium weight yarn. 
  • Child = 57 chain stitches for 16”
  • Small Adult or Teen = 63 chain stitches for 18”
  • Medium Adult = 69 chain stitches for 20”
  • Large Adult = 75 chain stitches for 22” (shown in mountain range color)
  • X-Large Adult = 81 chain stitches for 24” (shown in cabana color)

You can make this as wide as you like. I have the suggested number of rows below using my gauge.
  • Child = 3” work 15 rows
  • Small Adult or Teen= 4” work 19 rows
  • Medium Adult = 5” work 24 rows
  • Large Adult = 5” work 24 rows
  • X-Large Adult = 5” work 24 rows
