The Vermillion Infinity Scarf is a super easy crochet stitch that will give you a beautiful and sophisticated finished accessory. The simple stitch pattern makes it a breeze to work up, and the finished scarf is so soft and cozy. Plus, it’s a great way to use up some of your leftover yarn.
Lightweight Yarn Project
If you have a lightweight fingering yarn, it is perfect for this crochet project. The deep red color will add a pop of color to any outfit. Plus, it’s the perfect project for beginners as the stitch pattern used uses just chain stitches and single crochet stitches.
The finished size is 26 inches wide and 24 inches length (top to bottom). This may seem like it is quite wide. However, it is such a light and lacy crochet pattern, to get a nice full look, I made this long. When wearing, it hangs nicely with a beautiful full drape.
Just slip it over your head and you are ready.

Picot Trellis Versus this Lattice Picot Stitch
The normal picot trellis stitch is a bit different than how this stitch is normally worked. Since I was using a finer yarn, it was very time consuming to try and work a single crochet into one of the chain stitches.
Therefore, the picot stitch is worked into the chain space rather than the chain stitch. Working the stitch this way, it is less defined; however, it still adds a lovely texture to this open weave infinity scarf.

Easy Infinity Scarf Crochet Pattern
Since this pattern is worked flat and joined at the end, it makes this crochet project perfect for a beginner. If you can work the chain stitch and the single crochet stitch, you are ready to begin this pattern.
For me, the hardest part is holding the crochet project while you are working stitches. The open weave and lacy work of this crochet pattern make this pattern so pretty, yet it can be hard to find a place to hold the yarn. However, once you get going, it is a nice repetitive pattern to work.

Crochet Pattern Notes
This lattice stitch is worked in multiples of 4 plus 6. That means that your beginning chain stitch row should be divisible by 4 once you subtract 6. For instance, if I made a sample swatch, I might start with 22 stitches. 4 X 4 = 16 + 6 = 22.
The pattern is a repeat of row 2.
The last SC will always be worked in the previous row hole. The first SC will always be worked in the previous row first hole.
This pattern is worked flat and joined at the end.
Begin
Chain 86.
Row 1
In the 6th ST from the hook, insert hook and work a SC. [CH 5, SK 3 STs, SC in the 4th CH]. Repeat across between [ ]. End with a SC in the last stitch.
Row 2
CH 5, SC in the first hole of the previous row. [CH 5, SC, CH 3, SC in the next hole]. Repeat across between [ ]. End with a SC in the last hole SP.
Rows 3 and beyond
Repeat Row 2
Row 35 – Joining the Infinity Cowl
Note: I ended on row 35 as I ran out of yarn. However, you can crochet as many rows you can make it with your leftover yarn, join the infinity scarf together in the last row.
CH 3, SC in the first hole of the opposite end of the scarf. CH 3 go back across to the next hole, SC. [CH 3, go across to the next hole, SC] repeat the rest of the row between [ ]. End with a SC in the last hole.
Optional Joining method.
If you prefer, you can use a tapestry needle to join the two ends together. Just leave a long tail of the yarn at the end as this will be used to weave back and forth the two ends and join them together.
Lay the two ends flat with the stitches aligned. Then use a long piece of the yarn and insert the needle through a couple of chain stitches on one side. Switch to the stitches across and insert the needle through a few of the chain stitches on that side.
Repeat this process working back and forth until the Infinity Scarf has been joined together.
Finishing
Weave in yarn ends and remove the excess.
