Pattern is written in US terms.

Turn at the end of each row.

There are two options of starting this pattern for row 1.

Option 1. Place the 1st ST in the 2nd CH from the hook. If you choose to use this option, start your beginning chain with an even stitch count.

Option 2. The second option is detailed in the pattern below. Start 1st ST in the 3rd CH as detailed below because it gives me a nicer place to insert the hook for the last stitch when working row 2. Otherwise, that area always seems a bit tight on the first pass. The starting chain for this option is 2 + 1.

Note on the turning chain. The turning CH 1 can be worked at the end of the row before turning or at the beginning of the row when starting the row. It is your preference.

Work the foundation chain in multiples of 2 + 1.

Starting in the 3rd CH from the hook, work 1 SC. [SK next chain, work 2 SC into the next stitch]. Repeat between [ ] across the row ending with 1 SC worked into the last Chain ST. Turn

CH 1. In the first stitch, work 1 SC. [SK 1 SC, work 2 SC into the next SC]. Repeat between [ ] across the row. End with 1 SC worked into the last SC.
