The Harbor Mist Incredibly Easy Blanket Pattern uses the blanket stitch to create a stress-free and repetitive stitch for a blanket. It is a simple, three-stitch repeat that is sure to fit the bill for just about any crochet project.

Easy Crochet Blanket Pattern

If you’re looking for an easy crochet blanket pattern, this Harbor Mist Blanket is perfect. It works up quickly and uses only basic stitches. The single crochet and double crochet stitches used make it a great project for beginners.

Plus, the color scheme used today makes it perfect for versatile styling. However, you could make this in one solid color, or change the colors to your liking. Change the size of the blanket completely into a baby blanket or other size.

A few years ago, I made a baby blanket using pastel colors. For this pattern I added a squishy ribbed border using the front post and back post double crochet stitch pattern. This is a very easy and popular pattern.

Blanket Stitch Tutorial

It’s a great pattern to use when you want to relax and watch a movie because it’s repetitive and easy to do without paying much attention. This easy stitch is perfect for an Afghan or blanket. It is just sets of 3 stitches, one single crochet and two doubles. Once you decide how wide you want your blanket to be, just make a chain long enough using multiples of 3.

If this stitch is new to you, the Blanket Stitch Tutorial is helpful.

6-Foot Blanket Crochet Pattern – Manly Crochet Afghan

When I was thinking about how large the result needed to be, I had men that are tall in mind. My son-in-law is over 6-feet tall and for him to be able to fully cover up with a blanket can be a challenge sometimes. Therefore, I decided to make a quite large blanket so he can cover his fees all the way up to his neck.

Making this in the blues and grey colors makes this perfect for gifting to that special man in your life. The colors also pair nicely with many modern colors used in home décor these days.

Beginning Easy Crochet Pattern

Crochet Pattern Directions:

See the yarn color pattern below the written directions.

Begin with a chain of 192 stitches. (To make this bigger or smaller, use multiples of 3).

Row 1:

2 DC in the 3rd CH from the hook, [SK 2 CH, in the next CH, SC and 2 DC]. Repeat from [ ] across until the last 3 CH. SK 2 STs and end with SC in last ST. Turn.

Row 2:

CH 2, 2DC in Same ST. [SK 2 DC, in the next ST Work SC and 2 DC in SC in ST]. Repeat until the last 3 STs, end with a SC in the last ST. Turn

Rows 3 and Beyond:

Repeat Row 2.

(Note: there is an alternative to row 2: Rather than start the row with CH 2 and 2 DC, you can start the row with CH 1 and 2 SC). I also explain this is the video tutorial further above.

Finishing:

Weave in ends. Trim off any excess yarn.

Adding Yarn Colors to Blanket Pattern

Yarn Color Pattern

Each skein of yarn was used entirely before starting the next skein of yarn. This is a great way to reduce leftover yarn.

Also, if you notice, two of the skeins of yarn have less yardage. This creates a bit of a modern look with a varied number of rows.

Another thing I noticed, the skeins of yarn that were supposed to be the same yardage. However, some had much more than the package indicated. I will put the number of rows I was able to get with each color as I progressed. Remember, I just continued crocheting with the skein of yarn until I ran out. Then moved on to the next one.

  1. Hi,i love this pattern, the colors used are beautiful. I can’t wait to begin,i have ordered the recommended yarn/colors.

My question is, i like a ribbed bottom, top, sides….do you think that would work?i would keep stitch count accurate and use one size larger hook for ease.i think either cream or white would make Afghan colors pop.thank you.

  2. I recently found you and I am in love with your patterns! I can’t wait to make them all! Thank you for being an excellent teacher as I learned the basics many years ago but only recently got back into crocheting.(retired-kids gone-much time on my hands) 🤣

    1. Awe, thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. I know what you mean by having the time again to crochet. For years, I barely had a moment to myself and it is so fun to be able to be creative again.
I hope you keep stopping by often.
      Enjoy the journey.

    1. Hello,
You sure can. It is a nice size blanket already. The length will depend on how tall the person is that you are making the blanket for. I would make sure that the pocket is about 10 inches folded.

  3. This has been my go to blanket pattern. It works in any size, I’ve used different weight yarns and it always turns out great. I’m working on one noe in variegated yarn. My favorite!
