Because this stitch pattern uses the double crochet stitch, it goes really quickly too. The lacy stitch looks great too.
This is a reversible pattern as it looks the same on both sides. This blanket works up fast and is fun to memorize and pick up easily where you left off.

Amazing Drunken Granny Baby Blanket
At least my grandson thinks so. When I completed this baby blanket and took it to my daughter’s house to take a few photos, my grandson grabbed it and started snuggling.
The yarn is very soft, and it is just the right size to snuggle in.
While I made this using a solid color today, it would look lovely using different color combinations. I would make the color changes at the end of the row.
The yarn for this project today was a medium weight yarn; however, if you are a lover of chunky blankets, I bet this would work using a bulky weight yarn too.

Thanks. Looks cute and easy. I’m going to have to try it because the name is so humorous.
Hi Terry,
Right? I love this stitch though and hope you do too. Take care.

Hello, I just finished crocheting the Drunken Granny Square Afghan. Do you have any suggestions for a border?
Hi Linda,
So glad you finished the blanket. I would probably go one of two ways. 1. Just do a simple border with a round of single crochet, then a few rounds of half double crochet putting 3 stitches in each corner so it lays flat. 2. You might try working the drunken granny stitch pattern around as a border. I think it will take on a different look when you work a few rounds using the same stitch.
Vicky
@patternprincess1, Hi, thanks for responding to my question. I’ll have to try both and see what I like. It turned out beautiful (I think anyway). When I get the border done, I’ll send a picture. Thanks again. Linda
Thank you Linda,
I look forward to seeing the finished blanket.

This pattern is beautiful and I would love to make fullsize bed throws for my 2 little girls, how long of a chain would you recommend starting with? I am very new to crochet, could I basically just double what you already have?
Hi Tracie,
If they are sleeping in twin beds, doubling the starting chain would work, it gives plenty of drape over the sides. This blanket measures Finished size 26 inches X 35 inches. and doubling it would make it quite large. Otherwise, if you didn’t want it to drape over the side, maybe make it just a bit larger. To make this in your desired size, adjust the width, use multiples of 5 + 4.
Hope this helps.
Casey and I would love to see what you make, tag us in social media if you think of it.
Take care
Vicky
