A cocktail that will make you pucker up just a bit.
The green color of this cocktail along with the hint of sour apple make this a great drink for the Holidays, especially New Years Eve and St. Patrick’s Day.
No shaker is needed for this drink. Just add the ingredients and give it a stir.
Perfect for just one or two glasses of this refreshing beverage or mix up a large batch in a pitcher and serve a crowd.
Garnish Ideas
Today, this was garnished with a few slices of apple. Just slice the apple very thin, cut out a little v-wedge on one side and tuck on the edge of the glass. However, there are so many garnishes that could be used to pretty up this beverage.
Sour Apple Sucker. Amp up the sour apple taste by garnishing with a sucker.
Lime, Lemon, or Orange Rind. Use your peeler to peel a bit of the lime rind and place that on top.
Fresh Mint. Tuck a few fresh mint leaves on top.
Slice of Fruit. Any fruit sliced would be pretty and a delicious garnish.
Caramel. Unwrap a piece of caramel and place on the garnish pick to tuck into the cocktail.
Maraschino cherries – They are always a nice choice for a garnish as they add such a nice color, and they are a scrumptious element of any cocktail.
Rim the Glass Edge in Sugar
When the glass edge is rimmed with sugar, it provides a bit more sweetness to counter the sour apple taste. Today, I used granulated sugar. However, if this were going to be a signature drink for a St. Patrick’s Day party, the sugar could be colored with green food coloring.
For the non-alcoholic drink, the tall glasses are just fancy. Tuck in a few straws and you are all set.
St. Patrick’s Day Drink
If you celebrate this special day, this is a fun beverage with a green tint to it, which would be a perfect signature party cocktail at your next St. Patrick’s Day event. Your guests will love these.
A nice blend of sweet and sour.
Ingredients for this Sour Apple Cooler
- Sour Apple Pucker – this is a fruit liqueur that is 30 proof. If you try this by itself, it is quite sour.
- Triple Sec – this is a sweet and colorless, orange-flavored liqueur. The alcohol content can range from 15-40%.
- Lemon-Lime Soda – this will bring just the right amount of bubbly to the party.
- Ice – can be whole or crushed, your preference.
- Granulated Sugar (optional) – place on a plate to rim the top edge of the glass in the sugar for a little sweet taste to help balance the tartness of the sour apple.
Non-Alcoholic Sour Apple Cooler
This drink can be made non-alcoholic too. A kiddie cocktail can be made that is just as delicious for the little ones or anyone that would prefer no alcohol in their drink. When serving my guests, I like to make sure that there are options for everyone to enjoy and feel like they are all able to participate and enjoy the same type of beverage.
There are just a few ingredients in the non-alcoholic version. So quick and easy to make.
- Jelly Belly Green Apple Water Enhancer – This little bottle of water enhancer will add just the perfect amount of sour apple pucker to this drink.
