This stylish crochet cardigan is a handmade crochet item made from a crochet pattern designed by Lena Skvagerson for Annie’s Signature Design’s. The pattern is well written and there is a stitch guide available to me for free if I have a problem figuring out the directions and completing the crochet stitches. The pattern is still available and is called Crochet Hoodie Cardigan.

Stretch Your Crochet Skills
Back in September, I did a post about this crochet pattern. I have always looked at beautiful patterns like this and thought it was beyond my beginner crochet skill level. Once I had a chance to look over the stitches and the construction of the garment, I realized that I could probably make this. However, I still was not quite sure, but I wanted to take my crochet skills to the next level, so I thought I would stretch myself.

Pattern Alteration
Just like I do in cooking, I sometimes make changes to the crochet pattern I am using to suit my needs. I personally do not like a hoodie. For me, it just ads bulk and gets in the way. However, a lot of people, including my daughter do like a hoodie. I was making this for my daughter for Christmas. The present couldn’t be a surprise because I used her to size the pattern along the way. I made an extra large for her and I never had to change anything for the pattern size.
Adding a Hoodie or Not?
As I got toward the end of the pattern, it was time to make the hoodie. We had her try on the cardigan before the hoodie was added. Therefore, I stopped at row four of the hoodie because I liked the pointed collar that it made. I had her come and try it on before continuing on with the hoodie. She loved the collar; therefore,I did not complete the hoodie part of the crochet pattern.
Completing One Section at a Time
Overall, it was pretty easy to make this as it is made in sections. That helps make it easier for the beginner crocheter like myself. I felt better when I knew that a complete section was done and done correctly before moving onto the next.
I hope that you take your crochet skills to the intermediate level and try your own cardigan. There are so many beautiful cardigan patterns at Annie’s Signature Designs to choose from. Here are a few of my favorite styles that you may enjoy.
