Great Handmade Gift Idea
Handmade Holidays are a crafter’s dream. These Christmas coasters are so cute to use during the Holiday season.
They are a joy to crochet too. Simple, beginner crochet patterns like this make it possible for someone new to crocheting to make beautiful DIY gifts.
The possibilities of crochet gifts for the whole family are just endless. Personally, I would prefer something handmade just for me. I hope you enjoy making and giving this Chunky Christmas Ornament Coaster set.
Chunky Crochet Placemat as a Set
This Chunky Christmas Ornament Coaster was made with left over yarn from another fun and easy crochet project. Check out these easy chunky crochet placemats. Each skein if chunky yarn made one placemat and 2 coasters.
Use These Holiday Coasters Over and Over
Crochet home décor can be so beautiful. Once you have made these coasters, if you kept a set for yourself, you can use them year after year. This is a gift that lasts for many years to come.
The best part is you can make these with just about any scrap yarn. While I chose a red and white yarn, you can create different looks just by changing up the yarn color. Use pastels or bright colors to match your Christmas decor.
Yarn for This Quick Crochet Project
I used a bulky yarn for this free pattern. However, if you prefer, you can certainly make this out of a medium-weight yarn. You will just need to add a few more rows to get the same size. When adding rows you will need to make sure to only increase by six each round. We have a nice tutorial on how to crochet flat circles that will help with that.
Another option, you can crochet with two strands of yarn for a chunky look.
