Since this is made from a yarn cake that has beautiful, variegated colors throughout, there were just two yarn ends to weave in at the end.
This stunning shawl uses simple stitches, single crochet and double crochet. However, I would say that the skill level is a bit more adventurous beginner or into the intermediate level. Once you get the first few rows completed, you’ll just repeat rows four and five throughout.

Wear this as a Poncho
It is large enough to wear as a poncho if you added a brooch to the front to hold the sides in place. Just put on your back and bring the sides to the front.
They look gorgeous hanging down in front with the grey border or wrap together a bit and secure.
Varying the Color Scheme of the Yarn in the Shawl
I love pink and grey colors together for baby blankets. However, until this crochet shawl, I had never combined the two colors for a wearable.
It’s a lovely lace weight yarn and the self-striping yarn colors are gorgeous throughout the yarn cake. When using a yarn with variegated colors as in this lace yarn cake, the color that you start with becomes the main colors of the yarn. As the number of shells continue to grow with each row, the rows of each color become less and less.
Therefore, I wanted to show off the white and light pink a bit more leaving the darker pink and grey to be more of a highlight color.
I started with in the center of the yarn. If you prefer to have the dark pink and grey as the main colors of this shawl, start on the outside of the yarn.
Valentine’s Day Lacy Shawl
It is near the end of January as I am finishing writing up this pattern and the soft look of the stitches paired with the pastel pink, white and grey colors to accent make me think of Valentine’s Day that is just around the corner. I think love is in the air and this wrap will be an exquisite accessory to dress up any outfit.

This stunning design is a lacy shell stitch. It is achieved by a two row repeat of basic stitches throughout this pattern. One row consists of chain and single crochet stitches. The next row is where the shell is made by working a double crochet in the same stitch five times. A beautiful stitch combination with lovely results.

Materials
The Slate Divide 03 Rainbow Wrapsody from Yarn Bee 1 yarn cake/skein or 918 yards. I purchased this at Hobby Lobby. However, if you do not have one close to you or are not able to get this particular yarn. Any super fine number 1 or 2, fingering weight yarn will work just wonderfully with this crochet pattern. This Hobbi Yarn would work nicely. It’s a Wrap would work well too.

Pattern Notes
Each shell stitch consists of 5 double crochet stitches.
Turn at the end of each row.
CH 3 at the beginning of the rows counts as a double crochet.
The number of shells continues to increase by 1 shell every odd numbered row.
- All even rows consist of chain and single crochet stitches.
- All odd rows are an alteration of shell stitches and chain stitches.
The pattern consists of repeating rows 4 and 5 alternatively until the shawl is as large as you would like it. I went until I was out of yarn and made sure that I ended on a shell stitch row so the last row would be pretty.
