Make Something People will Rave About
Everyone just raves about how much they love it! Also, if you compare this coleslaw to the grocery store coleslaw, you will find that often, the grocery store coleslaw is bitter. That does not appeal to me at all.
This coleslaw is creamy with a bit of sweetness. It goes well with pulled pork sandwiches, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner, or just as a side dish at a pot luck or picnic. However, it is so easy to make, it could be served any day of the week.
Bagged or Shredded Cabbage
You can use a pre-shredded cabbage-the size that is about 14 ounces. Or, you can shred your own cabbage and it can be red or green cabbage or a combination of the two.
Prepare Ingredients Ahead/Assemble the Day of…
Shred the cabbage a few days ahead and store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to make the coleslaw.
Make the dressing a few days ahead and store this in the refrigerator too. Actually, the dressing will last a few weeks.
Go ahead and make the coleslaw 1 – 2 hours before you want to serve it to your guests. Just remember to take it out of the refrigerator.
One time, my sister-in-law was so busy making a large holiday meal, that she forgot to serve the coleslaw. There was so much food, we never missed it. No worries, we ate it with the leftovers the next day. Delicious.
Easy Restaurant-Style Coleslaw at Home
The coleslaw I made for decades at a local restaurant and they have had this on their menu for over half a century. Deliciously fresh, crunchy, creamy, and a bit of sweetness make this just decadent.
It is a quick and simple recipe.
Perfect for your Holiday Menu. We serve this at Thanksgiving and Christmas both. Even throughout the year when we make our Friday fish. If we really want to be like a restaurant, we need to have it with out fish too, of course.

Hello!
A very Happy New Year to you and yours! Does the recipe have to use Miracle Whip? Just got a new jar of mayo and would hate to go and purchase something else. By the way…. I do agree the store bought cole slaw always has a bitter taste. Thanks for a good recipe!
Happy New Year to you as well. Let’s hope it is a great one for everyone.
I have used mayo for this recipe; however, it will give it a bit of a different flavor. That is not a bad thing though. It is just the different flavor profile between mayo and Miracle Whip. Some folks have a preference for one or the other. I like both. I say, go ahead and give it a try and see if you like it.
