What are Turtle Candies?
Turtle candies are my favorite chocolate to have during the holiday made with Pecans and creamy, chewy caramel topped with a dollop of milk chocolate.
Actually, my husband will often get me a little box of turtle candies as a Christmas present. However, when I make these Rolo candy, Pretzel, and Pecan candies, these rank right up there for being equally delicious too. A salty treat with a sweet taste.
While I have not done a price comparison, I would think that you can make a lot more of these wonderful little nuggets for the same price you would pay for the Turtle candies.
Where have these delicious snacks been all my life?
My sister-in-law made these chocolate, caramel, pretzel, and pecan snack for the holidays one year. Normally, I am the only one making these goodies to snack on. It is so nice to have new ideas for holiday favorites.
Well, at the end of the holiday season, these cute little snacks were completely gone. Had to ask her how to make them since they were gobbled up so quickly. I am sharing this recipe with you, so you can make them for your holiday gathering too. They are just the easiest treats I have every made.
Ingredients and Variations
They’re a perfect addition to holiday cookie exchanges, a sweet surprise for Valentine’s Day, or a delightful party treat!
The best thing about them? You can easily make them your own by customizing with various toppings, creating the flavor combo that suits your taste buds. Let the creativity flow and indulge in a sweet experience that’s as unique as you are.
Rolo Candies. You can swap out the Rolo candies, using other types of mini candy bars or other types of a chocolate caramel candy. Add the taste of peanut butter with Reese’s Peanut butter cups. Skip the caramel and use Hershey’s Kisses in one of their many flavors and even white chocolate.
Pretzels. Any kind of pretzels with work, but we like the mini pretzel size the best. The square pretzels will work just fine. Swap out the pretzel for a vanilla or chocolate wafer cookie if you like a bit sweeter treat.
Pecan Halves. Any type of nut will work for this. Personally, I like the pecan nut the best with this recipe. If you prefer, you can leave out the nut all togeter.
Kid-Friendly Christmas Candy Recipe
This Holiday candy is just the perfect recipe to make with your children. It is a fun activity that the whole family can get involved in.
Just line a cookie sheet with some parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy clean up, and place pretzels on the sheet in rows in a single layer.
Let them line up the salty pretzel pieces on the cookie sheet in a single layer.
Unwrap the caramel-filled chocolates and place one on the top of each pretzel.
You can do the baking, just 3 minutes and add one pecan half to the top of the chocolate candy. The hardest part is getting the pecan on top without getting your fingers in the gooey melted chocolate and caramel.
It’s one of those easy treats we make on repeat for Holidays any time of year.
It’s as easy as it is fun, bringing together crunchy pretzels, gooey caramel-covered chocolate candies, and the nutty goodness of crunchy pecans. Talk about a perfect blend of tastes, this is a sweet treat made simple!
After whipping up these little delights, just pop them into an airtight container once they’ve cooled; easy peasy.
Let cook and enjoy.

Sometimes it is nice to put this on tin foil for easy clean up. Place in the oven for 3-4 minutes. (if you leave this in too long, the chocolate and caramel will be too runny).
