Just a Few Ingredients

All you need is a great cut of meat. Lawry’s Seasoned Salt, Freshly Ground Black Pepper, and a Cast Iron Skillet. If you have not used the seasoned salt before and are not sure where to get it, you can find it here.

Use a Thick Cut of Steak

Generally, I like to make a 16 ounce rib eye. This cut of meat has great marbling for a tender steak. However, this same cooking method can be used for a two other great options; Tenderloin and New York Strip.

Change up the meat for a chicken breast or pork chop. Just make sure to cook a bit less time to not overcook.

Prepping Skillet

If I have a very lean cut of meat, I will add a bit of oil to the pan before adding the cut of meat; just a tablespoon. This will help it release from the pan when turning. However, when the steak is seared on one side, it will release from the pan pretty easily.

Cook the steak in a pan that is relatively hot; I use medium-high or high heat. After adding the steak, season the steak generously with the seasoned salt and freshly ground pepper.

Butter Sauce for Steak

While I prefer a cast-iron skillet to cook the steak, I have used a non-stick skillet with great success. Do what I have many times; use what you have on hand. After your steak is done, add butter to the pan. Melting the butter in the pan gets all the pan dripping goodness and caramelization of the steak off the pan.

Use the butter to dip your steak or drizzle the butter over the steak when serving.
