Scrumptious After Dinner Drink

The drinks are so delightful that we have these probably more than we should. This delicious cocktail combines the smooth buttery taste of caramel with a coffee liqueur and cream.

If you like going to your favorite coffee shop and enjoy having their extremely popular caramel macchiato, then I have a feeling you will enjoy this boozy version.

One of these decadent cocktails really finishes off a meal.

Cream Based Drink

Cream based drinks are so rich and velvety. Mix this with the caramel and you have two great tastes that pair well. The coffee flavor liqueur gives this beverage such depth. However, it is a bit of a sweet drink.

Some people enjoy this during the fall and winter months. However, I happen to think is delicious to have any time of the year.

Anytime of the year is the perfect time to enjoy this cocktail.

Learn How to Make This Decadent Beverage

Drizzle the caramel sauce around the inside of the glass. You can give the glass a twirl to coat, but it seems to happen all on its own as it runs down the inside of the glass.

Add crushed ice to the glass.

In a separate glass, mix the Southern Cream Salted Caramel Crown Royal, Kahlua, and cream.

Pour over the ice. Another option is to add the ice, caramel Whiskey, Kahlua, and cream to a blender and make it a blended drink.

Top with whipping cream, if desired.

Drizzle more caramel sauce, if desired.

Sprinkle on a pinch of flaked sea salt.

Variations to This Dessert Cocktail Recipe

Rather than drizzling the caramel sauce inside the glass, it could be used to rim the glass too. Just pour a bit of caramel syrup in a shallow bowl and dip the edge of the glass in the syrup. This would be lovely just like this, but you could amp things up a bit more and dip the glass into a shallow bowl of sugar.

Top with shaved chocolate pieces for extra treats at the end.

Swap out the Southern Cream Salted Caramel Crown Royal for Caramel Flavored Vodka.

If you do not have Kahlua another great option is Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Use milk rather than heavy cream.

Mix in a blender with the ice for a blended drink.

Use ice cream rather than the heavy cream and mix in a blender for a boozy milkshake.

Turn this into a Mudslide by swapping out the heavy cream for Irish Cream.

Make a Non-Alcoholic Mocktail Version of this Dessert Cocktail

Whenever I share a recipe for an alcoholic drink, I like to figure out a way to make this in a non-alcoholic version. Not everyone can or wants to have the alcohol in their drink, yet they want to be part of the group enjoying the same type of beverage.

Swap out the salted caramel alcohol for a teaspoon of salted caramel sauce.

Swap out the Kahlua liqueur for a shot of espresso. Here is a quick way to make this.

How to Make Espresso from Instant Coffee

Mix 1 teaspoon of instant coffee with 2 teaspoons of hot water. There is just enough water to incorporate the coffee granules. The hot water will speed up how fast the granules melt.  This quick espresso recipe can quickly be adjusted by adjusting how much water and coffee are mixed.
