A delicious apple coffeecake with cinnamon brown sugar crumb is exceptionally flavorful and moist. It’s the perfect contrast to the tart Granny Smith Apples.
Take this dessert to the next level with a drizzle of frosted glaze; pure comfort food.
Serving the Apple Coffeecake
My daughter and husband like the coffeecake warm. Their favorite way to enjoy this cake is topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Other times, it is a quick afternoon snack and they are off again. While it is delicious that way, it can also be wonderful served cold too. Another option is to simply serve this apple cake with the best part; coarse crumbs streusel topping and whipped cream.
Well, yes, the juicy apples are the perfect addition too. I love enjoying my piece with a hot cup of coffee usually for a breakfast treat, but really any time of day is a great time for this delicious cake full of apple chunks and that yummy crumb topping. The photo below has a glaze on top and it’s a delicious sweet cake.

What Type of Apples are Best for This Easy Recipe?
While Granny Smith Apples are great with their tartness for this recipe. I am not particular when it comes to what kind of apple to use with this apple coffeecake recipe.
Any type of apple that you like would really be wonderful in this recipe. My favorite are Granny Smith, Braeburn apples, and Pink Lady. The folks at Stemilt suggest Granny Smith, Honey Crisp apples, Fuji apples, and Gala apples for an apple cake.
I often make this recipe in the fall when the apples are freshly picked. Now a days apples are available year-round in the stores. Purchase a hand full anytime of the year and make this delicious Apple Coffeecake with Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crumb…and a bit of icing glaze anytime you are in the mood for a homemade snack.

What to Serve with Apple Coffeecake with Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crumb
Pairing suggestions for apple coffeecake can vary based on personal preference and the occasion. Here are a few ideas:
Coffee or Tea: As the name suggests, apple coffeecake pairs wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee or tea. The warm, comforting flavors complement the sweetness of the cake.
Whipped Cream or Ice Cream: For a decadent touch, serve the coffeecake with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The creamy texture contrasts beautifully with the moist cake.
Vanilla Glaze: In the photo, you will notice a sweet glaze over the top of this soft buttery cake. All you do is add powdered sugar, a bit of milk, water, or lemon juice, and vanilla to a small bowl. Give it s mix and drizzle this over the top when serving.
Fresh Fruit: Add a refreshing element to your dessert spread by serving sliced fresh fruit on the side. Berries, such as strawberries or raspberries, or a mix of seasonal fruits, provide a light and vibrant counterpart to the rich coffeecake.
Yogurt: For a lighter option, consider serving the coffeecake with a side of Greek yogurt. The tanginess of the yogurt balances the sweetness of the cake and adds a creamy, refreshing element.
Breakfast or Brunch Spread
If serving the coffeecake as part of a breakfast or brunch spread, consider offering a variety of options such as scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and a selection of fresh bread or pastries. The savory components will complement the sweetness of the cake and provide a well-rounded meal.
