Sometimes it is fun to dress up a triangle shawl with a tassel. Since I used a fine yarn, this is a lovely summer piece. Use a thick yarn and it becomes a warm cover up for those colder days.

Let the Yarn Shine Through

Making a shawl is a great way to use a yarn cake. I always find it exciting to see what color comes next as I crochet a piece with yarn that has various colors throughout. This particular yarn is actually more of a thread.

There are four threads woven together in a yarn cake. Here is one cake that you will not gain weight on! However, this would also lend itself well to one of those shawl in a ball skeins.

The shawl skeins of yarn usually have 488-512 yards, which will give you a nice size shawl. However, this particular yarn that I used today has a whopping 874 yards!

The yarn I used to day is Hobbii Cotton King-1 skein. Another yarn that would look great with this pattern is Red Heart’s new It’s a Wrap yarn.

Yarn Color Transitions

I love how this yarn gradually transitions from color to color. This yarn is made up of four lightly twisted threads and creates a wonderfully light shawl.

This yarn is absolutely beautiful, but you could also easily make this shawl with any yarn you like.

Lightweight Yarn for Styling Options

This yarn is very lightweight lending itself well for a wide variety of styling ideas. Here are a few ideas; this can be a beach cover up, use a pin or shawl clip and turn this into a poncho, or scrunch this up a bit and wear it more as a scarf. You can find some pretty shawl clips here.

Gauge and Size

The gauge is not super important because you can truly use any yarn and just stop the pattern when your shawl is big enough. My shawl ended up measuring 92 inches wide from corner to corner and 33 inches from top to bottom.

Materials

Hobbii Cotton Kings Twirls 1 skein. However, this 1 skein is a whopping 874 yards so there is enough to make a large shawl.

Sometimes, the yarn colors are sold out. Here are some other great yarn color choices from Hobbi.

This is such a nice light weight neck shawl, perfect for what I want. As a beginner (teaching myself since April 2020), it’s so fantastic that lovely people like you actually take the time to do great video tutorials, as newbies aren’t always good with just written patterns. I’m going to start mine today. Thank you so much for sharing & teaching. Can’t wait to show mine off when finished. : )
