Closeup of the Stitches and Color Rows
Sometimes seeing a detailed photo of a pattern helps more than a video or written crochet directions.
I just love how the colors and the simple stitches add depth and beautiful texture.

No Chain double Crochet
Take a close look at the top row and bottom row, you will notice how similar they look. This is achieved by using a NO Chain Double Crochet Stitch to start this pattern.
Here is a video to help you see how the no chain double crochet is completed. This part of the pattern is also detailed in the video further down that includes the stitches used in the repeating rows too.
Directions:
Begin with the Chocolate color yarn. Complete 161 of the No Chain Double Crochet stitch. (this special stitch completes the foundational chain stitch row, and a double crochet row) Video further down if you need it.
Row 2:
CH 3, SK 1, HDC. [CH 1, SK 1, HDC]. Repeat the stitches between the [ ] through to the last ST. Complete a HDC in the last ST.
Row 3:
CH 4. (this equals the end DC plus a CH1). In the first CH 1 SP, DC. [CH 1, SK 1, DC in the next CH 1 SP]. Repeat the stitches between the [ ] through to the last CH 1 SP. CH 1, SK 1 ST, end with DC in top ST of the last HDC of the previous row.
Row 4:
CH 2. HDC in the previous row CH 4 SP (which was the first DC plus a CH 1). CH 1, SK 1. [HDC, CH 1, SK 1] repeat the stitches between the [ ] through to the second to the last ST. Complete a HDC in the last ST.
Change Color at Row 5 – Color Row Detail Follows
Rows 5-124:
Repeat Rows 3 and 4.
Row 125:
End with the chocolate and a SC in each ST.
This helps the ending row look very similar to the beginning row using the chocolate yarn. I think that this gives the throw a nice finished look.
