Cheesy Baked Hot Spinach Dip Recipe

This cheesy baked hot spinach dip is just like the appetizer you will find at your favorite restaurant. You might be surprised as how easy this is to make. With just a few simple ingredients and 10 minutes of prep, you’ll have this in the oven ready to enjoy in just 20 minutes of bake time.

How to Make This Easy Hot Spinach Dip Recipe

This recipe just takes minutes of prep. Begin by preparing the spinach. If using fresh spinach, coarsely chop and sauté in a skillet and cool before adding it to the other ingredients. If using frozen thaw and dice if not done already. Remove the excess liquid from the spinach. Squeeze the spinach to remove the water. Another option is to wrap the spinach in paper towels and wring the liquid out.

 In a large bowl, add the cream cheese, sour cream, spinach, garlic, salt, pepper, parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese in a bowl. Stir until well combined. Transfer the spinach mixture into a prepared baking dish.  

Add the rest of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top  

Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until the dip is hot and bubbly, and the cheese is melted.

Optional. Broil for 2 to 3 more minutes until the cheese starts to brown.  

Top with Freshly diced parsley and/or diced scallions for serving.

  • 8 Ounces Cream Cheese Softened
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream
  • 10 Ounces Spinach Leaves Chopped, and drained. Can be fresh or frozen.
  • 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese Shredded
  • 1 1/2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese Shredded and divided
  • 1 Tablespoon Parsley Diced
  • 1 Tablespoon Scallions Diced

  • Optional. Broil for 2 to 3 more minutes until the cheese starts to brown.
  • Top with Freshly diced parsley and or diced scallions for serving.

Make this Spinach Dip Appetizer in Advance

Make this hot appetizer 8 hours ahead of time. Assemble all the ingredients in the prepared casserole dish or cast iron skillet. Store in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap. When ready to serve, bake as usual adding a few minutes of time to allow for the cooler temperature of the ingredients from the refrigeration.

Add more cheese flavor and melty cheeses to your dip. You just can’t go wrong switching up the cheesy goodness. Here are a few ideas for great flavor combinations.

For other types of cheese, try mozzarella and provolone, or Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Fontina cheese, Muenster cheese, and Gouda paired with the mozzarella

How Long Does Spinach Dip last in the Refrigerator?

When stored in an airtight container, homemade Spinach dip will last up to 5 to 7 days.  However, if you have had this dip on the counter between, to be safe, discard after 3 to 4 days. Store-bought spinach dip will last 2 to 3 weeks if left unopened. Once opened, make sure to discard after 10 to 12 days and keep refrigerated between use.

Can you Freeze Spinach Dip Made with Cream Cheese?

If you do freeze spinach dip made with cream cheese, the texture of the cheese will change and become grainy. Therefore, I do not recommend it.

How to Reheat This Dip

Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until it is hot and bubbly again. If frozen, make sure to bring to room temperature before baking.
