When I am entertaining, I sometimes will use a variety of meat as the filling. Meat appetizers are a great way to have your guest feeling full on a few bites.

This recipe uses crescent roll dough; however, if you happen to have biscuit dough or puff pastry, they would work really well too. If I were to use puff pastry, I would brush a bit of melted butter on top for even more flavor.

It is so easy to make this ahead of time. Just get the got dogs wrapped in the dough and place on a cookie sheet. cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until you are ready to heat in the oven. I will do this the night before or a few hours before.

Bake these for 12-15 minutes and serve to your family or guests with the insides hot and the outside crisp and crunchy. However, once made, these can be left out at room temperature safely for 1-2 hours. So, they are an easy recipe and the perfect party snack for people that like to graze.

How Long Will Pigs in a Blanket Keep?

As long as they are stored in an airtight container, they are safe to eat up to 5 days. However, if you have already had the appetizers sitting out for your guests, then they should be used within 3 days.

  • 1 Container Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls
  • 1 Package Hot Dogs

Instructions

  • Prepare a baking sheet by spraying it lightly with oil. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Cut the hot dogs in half. There are 10 Crescent Rolls in the container. This way, there is a 1/2 a hot dog for each triangle.
  • Open the container of Crescent Rolls and pull apart the perforated triangles. Place on the baking sheet.

  • Place a 1/2 a hot dog in each Crescent Roll triangle. Roll up the Crescent Roll around the hot dog starting with the wider end.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes. Until the rolls are golden brown.

If you make this with mini hot dogs, but the crescent roll dough in half lengthwise and use that to wrap around the mini dogs. You will get 20 appetizers.
